3 Storey Holiday Villa in Mykonos
The property is located within the Holiday Complex “PITHOS“, situated on the hillside of Pithos, between Kalafatis and Lia, on the south coast of Mykonos, well protected from the northern winds and with a magnificent view of the sea and the islands of Naxos and Paros.
The complex comprises of two separate blocks, the southern and northern, consisting of 7 two-storey or three-storey dwellings each. Every house is unique. There are four types of houses, each with 2, 3 or 4 bedrooms, 2 or 3 bathrooms, living room and kitchen. The size of each house is between 90 m2 and 150 m2.
The property is situated on the northern complex, with exclusive use of 302 m2 of land, and consists of 4 bedrooms and 2 en-suite and 1 guests bathrooms, with a total area of 146 m2.
In order to ensure adequate natural light and unlimited view, the floor plans of the villas are arranged side by side, all facing the southern orientation and the sea, forming outdoor and semi-open spaces, so that they have the maximum privacy.
Buildings are embedded in the slope of the ground and their volumes are arranged side by side with an altitude difference that follows the physical level and the final level of the soil. The difference in level is evident both on the facades and the volume of the buildings, and gives them plasticity by interrupting their continuity, which is very common on the facades of the houses along the streets of Mykonos.
The surrounding area of the plot is formed following the slopes of the ground with stone-built terraces, layered with slopes and planted with vegetation such as bougainvillea, aloe, lavender, thyme, cacti, geraniums, etc., highlighting the authentic character of the island.
On the south side of each complex, apart from the private courtyards of the houses, the area of the communal swimming pool, described by an area covered with a pergola for a comfortable stay in the shade, is perfectly situated in the landscape. Fully integrated into the natural landscape and the slopes of the terrain, its remote location from the main building volume, ensures its privacy.
In addition, an outdoor staircase in the open-air ground floor leads to the lowered surrounding area, ensuring the possibility of an external communication of the residence with the southern courtyard.
The way of construction is traditional with brick masonry, plaster, wooden windows, local stone of the area, stone-built terraces, fencing, staircases and chestnut wood pergolas. These materials and the way of construction lead to a form-like result very close to the traditional examples.
In addition, a septic treatment plant is provided for the reuse of waist water, recovered through a clean waste distribution system, for watering the gardens.
In the open space, on the northern side of each villa, independent planted courtyards are organized for each residence, with access from the parking lot.
